Adding another item to my resume
I can now add another skill to my domestic resume.
I can fix the sprinklers (well, some aspects of them anyway).
Backtrack to two weeks ago, I discover that I've been filling the neighborhood gutters because one of the sprinkler lines is broken. Dad comes into town that weekend and helps me dig out (what a pain with all the roots in the way!) the line and discovers that there is a split in the black line. Off to Home Depot we go. Come home, do a little repair and let the line sit overnight. Next day, Dad leaves, I test the line. Find another split on the OTHER side of the repair. Off to Home Depot I go. After several trips and several days I finally manage to fix the line.
Then I mow the lawn and clip one of the rainbirds. Off to Home Depot I go, again.
I tested the line this afternoon (and got soaked in the process), voila! This sprinkler line is fixed.
I wonder which one will misbehave next?
Very good of you to NOT mention that good old Dad probably caused some of the leaks while digging thru 6 cubic feet of roots with a scattering of soil holding them together. I typically cause at least one leak for every one that I fix. College education is good for something (learning to count your screwups). Glad everything is working for now.
